TRI - training, resources and information for work with men on domestic violence

TRI was launched in 2001 evolving from several years experience in Nottinghamshire of running self-referral perpetrator programmes.  The main aspects of TRI work include:

A - Developing and delivering the following training courses:

'Challenging Domestic Violence - work with male perpetrators'

'Advanced Skills for Work with male perpetrators'

'Domestic Violence and Work with young people'

'Domestic Violence and work with young parents'

'Working with men who experience domestic violence'

B.  Developing Policy and Practice Guidelines for working with men as perpetrators or survivors of domestic violence (including gay and heterosexual survivors) and supporting agencies to carry out this work.

C.  Delivery of domestic violence awareness projects in schools and other centres for young people.

D.  Developing posters, leaflets and advertising campaigns aimed at men as perpetrators or survivors and for young people.

E.  Co-ordinating innovative and creative community awareness events about domestic violence including White Ribbon Campaign activities.

  • TRI works across Nottinghamshire and occasionally in other regions of the U.K.
  • Many of the resources developed by TRI are not area specific and are used throughout the U.K
  • There are currently no self referral perpetrator programmes in Nottinghamshire.  However, there are leaflets men can access to assist and motivate an end to their abuse and workbooks for professionals who are working with men to support them in this work.
