NDVF Young people's seminar proves a big success

The RESPECT NOT FEAR seminar enabled young people to work through a series of arts based workshops on a variety of relevant issues.  The day started with a performance by C-Mone (Femme C who has worked with The Streets and Groove Armada) and was follwed by the groups splitting off into workshops.

The workshops included Visual Arts, Hip Hop and Drama.  Each tackled different aspects of healthy relationships.  Drama focused on aspects of domestic violence and support networks, Hip Hop looked into issues of respect and fear and the visual arts worked on healthy relationships and equality.

The day ended with C-Mone encouraging young people to perform verses from their Hip Hop lyrics if they wanted.  Young people said of the day:

'I learnt where to get support for relationships'

'I learnt more about respecting others'

I liked everything.  The rapping was my best one'

The day was organised as a partnership project between Impact Project and Information and Resources and was funded by the Local Network Fund
