24 Hour Domestic Violence Help-line
Finding a safe place to stay
If you want to leave an abusive relationship a refuge is one option to think about.
A refuge is a safe house for women and children. Its location is confidential, so if your partner tries to find you it will be difficult for him to find where it is located.
At refuge there will be workers that will be able to give you support and children's support workers to help with the childrens needs.
The other women and children at the refuge will also be escaping domestic violence.
It is likely that at refuge you will have to share a bedroom with your children and share kitchen, bathroom and living facilities with other families. Some refuges though do have self contained flats.
When you move out of refuge you may be able to access outreach or floating support.
For more information about refuges and how to access refuge contact the 24 hour freephone helpline on 0808 800 0340.
Emergency Accommodation is also available from the Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils - a link to all the Housing teams is available to the right of this page.
Shelter is an independent organisation that may also be able to find somewhere for you to stay: 0808 800 4444
